To lubricate effectively, rotate the valve to distribute the lubricant throughout the cavity. It is essential to use a lubricant specified for your system, as an incorrect type—like those with clay or solid thickeners that can harden and leave residue—may cause damage.

To protect against extreme temperature fluctuations that can impair function and cause costly damage, consider applying and routinely inspecting protective insulation, especially on outdoor pipes.
