So this spring I bought a Mack dump truck.  It can scale about 15 ton of material.  Got it bought very reasonable since it was a 50-year-old dump truck and I mostly bought it for my own personal use.  Did some rough math I roughly know miles per gallon like if I hold for a neighbor if you loads.  I think I charged him $50 a load for the 15 Mile One Way run and he paid for the material.  Gravel pit I think they are 150 for the same distance if not 200.  Obviously they're pricing in there appreciation wear and tear tires so on and so forth.  I basically just did my fuel cost and doubled it and paid myself 20 bucks an hour for going and driving.

I have a friend who's wanting to rent my dump truck to wholesome Manor from a p block to stockpile at some of his corn fields.  I think the distance from A to B for him isn't very far but he's going to have to drive my truck 43 miles to his house.  When you talk to me about it a month or so ago I just told him I said well bring it back full of fuel and give me whatever you think it was worth to you.  Talk to him the other day and he said well make sure you figure out what you want for me you're using that dump truck. 

So I guess I'm trying to figure out what a fair rental rate would be.  A lot of the difference between my out-of-pocket cost and what the gravel pit charged is depreciation and or replacement costs.  A 50-year-old dump truck is so depreciated out I don't think you can depreciate it out anymore.  So I'm not too worried about that.  There is tires that get expensive and that kind of stuff.  I guess I'd like to try and come up with some kind of sense per mile and is telling to bring it back full of fuel and have the cents per mile cover what the tires would cost to replace.  

How many miles do you guys get out of a truck tire?  What's the average cost of a new truck tire?  I'm thinking about trying to figure out how many miles a tire will run and divide that by the price of the tire and take it times 10?  I should make a little bit just for write an ownership I would agree there.  I'm also not needing to make enough profit per mile to eventually trade it in and upgrade doing your truck either.  If I cover tire wear and they're going to bring it back full of fuel and in good working order what else am I missing?
